Flip, the SlotFlip chameleon

SlotFlip

$ell your appointment, or skip the wait and buy somebody else’s.

SlotFlip lets clients resell barber appointments they have already booked. We are launching first at YBB in Evansville, Indiana.

How it works

Sellers

Can’t make your appointment?

List it on SlotFlip. To list, you pay for the haircut now, plus a small card fee. You see the exact amount before you pay.

If it sells, you get the haircut price back plus your share of the profit. If it does not sell, you keep your appointment and come in as booked.

Buyers

Want a chair sooner?

Pick an open appointment and pay the price shown. The appointment moves into your name in the shop’s booking system.

The haircut is already paid for. At the shop you only tip, if you want to.

The shop

The chair stays full

The shop is paid the full haircut price a few hours after the appointment, no matter who sits in the chair.

Nobody is charged for the haircut twice. The booking carries a note that it was paid through SlotFlip.

What it costs

SlotFlip only makes money when an appointment sells for more than the haircut price. That extra amount is the profit. SlotFlip keeps 20% of the profit. The rest goes to the seller. A shop may choose to keep a share of the seller’s part, up to half of it. YBB keeps none.

Here is an example with a $50.00 haircut that sells for $75.00 at YBB:

Step Amount
Seller pays to list ($50.00 haircut plus card fee) $51.81
Buyer pays $75.00
Profit ($75.00 minus $50.00) $25.00
SlotFlip keeps 20% of the profit $5.00
Seller gets back ($50.00 plus $20.00 of profit) $70.00
Shop gets the haircut price $50.00

The card fee covers what the card company charges to take the payment. It is shown before you pay. The haircut price comes from the shop’s own booking system. The seller picks the asking price.

If plans change

If the shop cancels, everyone who paid gets all their money back. If you do not show up, there is no refund. Read the full refund policy for every case.

Safe payments

Payments are handled by Stripe. Card numbers go straight to Stripe and SlotFlip never sees or stores them. Bookings are made in the shop’s own Square booking system.
